Bottineau County Auditor, Lisa Herbel, appointed to National Committee

The National Association of Counties (NACo), with the approval of the Bottineau County Commission, appointed Lisa Herbel to the Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs Policy Steering Committee. NACo nominated Herbel to the committee pending approval of the Bottineau County Commission. At the November 9th meeting, the Commissioners voted to ratify the appointment.

Herbel, recently re-elected to another term as Bottineau County’s Auditor, will represent local interests on the national committee which follows legislative and regulatory actions. Committee membership at the national level is a serious commitment and responsibility. A great deal of NACo’s strength is in its committees and active participation from Bottineau County will reflect and reinforce that strength. The expertise and engagement of the steering committee members is a main reason why Congress and federal agencies often look to NACo for feedback on legislative policy decisions being made in Washington, DC. This nomination represents a great opportunity to share with and learn from Bottineau County.

“Having Lisa on a Committee for the National Association of Counties is a big deal,” said Bottineau County Commission Chairman, Charlie Adams. “With today’s technology, a lot of the meetings will be video and teleconference, so a majority of Lisa’s participation will come at hardly any actual expense to the county, but the influence she will have and the experience she will bring back is worth a lot.”

Herbel’s work begins immediately as NACo has already scheduled monthly conference calls.
