Congratulations & Welcome to County Government!

Posted 11/27/18 (Tue)

The North Dakota Association of Counties (NDACo) extends our congratulations to all who were recently elected or re-elected to county government positions! NDACo is here to serve you and your county and act as a resource during your term as a county official.

Below are some links and resources we hope you'll find helpful.

The NDACo 2018 Annual Report, produced each October, gives a brief summary of NDACo program highlights, along with financial information.

The Benefits of Membership flyer recaps the benefits your county receives from NDACo. You'll find more complete information about our programs and services under the "Programs" tab on this website.

The Training Requirements for New County Officials brochure and Training Opportunities flyer highlight training requirements set forth in state law. Your member association established these requirements and works closely with the Institute of Local Government (ILG), our professional development division, to assist you in achieving your required training. You will receive emails for upcoming ILG courses from our professional development manager, Alisha Adolf (alisha.adolf@ndaco.org or 1-800-932-8730). Courses are posted online at www.ndaco.org/ilg.

We are currently working on the 2019 County Officials Directory, which will be sent to you as soon as it is printed. You can also search for your fellow county officials by name, by office or by county at www.ndaco.org/cod.

If you’re a Facebook or Twitter user, you can follow us at www.fb.com/ndcounties and www.twitter.com/ndcounties.

And as the 2019 Legislative Session is fast approaching, we encourage you to sign up for updates on our legislative blog at ndcounties.blogspot.com.

Finally, we would like to extend a personal invitation for you to attend three important events which will be held in Bismarck in 2019:

  1. County Officials Academy, scheduled for March 11-12, which offers new officials an overview of county government and the duties associated with the different offices. You’ll also get an update on county legislative priorities and an opportunity to visit your legislators at the Capitol.
  2. Legislative Wrap-up, scheduled for May 13, will review legislation that will affect county budgets and operations.
  3. The NDACo Annual Conference, scheduled for October 6-8, is NDACo’s premier educational and networking event. More information on these events will be sent to all county officials as their dates approach.

Congratulations again on your willingness to get involved and care about the future of counties in North Dakota. Public service has never been an easy job, but we hope you will find rewards in the process. We look forward to meeting and serving you in the future.

Sincerely,

Scott Ouradnik

NDACo President
Slope County Commissioner
